Excellent quality and undamaged portrait of Digby with a long haired red tunic cape and armor underneath impersonating an ancient Roman officer or possibly a Caesar. Exceptional detail typical of portraits by Van Dyck who was commissioned to paint the family on occasion. Presented in its original antique oval frame with foliated gesso carving.
