"Sauceboat In Sterling Silver Nineteenth Morel & Cie"
Sauce boat on frame in solid silver (1258g). Louis XV style, its handles are decorated with knots, flowers and foliage. Border of the tray decorated with a frieze embellished with shells and foliage. It features the house brand "Morel & Cie". Presence of numbers on both sides of the belly of the sauce boat representing a “V”. Hallmark hallmark, goldsmith's hallmark. Tray removable by screwing.
Jean-Valentin Morel (1794/1860) is a goldsmith and jeweller. In 1842, the Morel & Cie house was founded in association with Henri Duponchel (architect, decorator and goldsmith). After the revolution of 1848, he went alone to England and became an official supplier to Queen Victoria.
Some scratches from use, rest in very good condition.
