Until the end of the caravan era Tabriz was the most important center of trade and carpet weaving.
Around here, the West sourced the masterpieces that renowned and capable weavers wove. Their high qualities have made the rugs known to international markets. Hand-knotted rug workshops have been established where they weave old and new designs with a very high density of knots with excellent quality materials. Silk and fine qualitative wool make first-class rugs.
It is the only city in Persia that produces such a large volume and variety of carpets. Tabriz rugs are impressive and they have their style and originality with or without medallion, with designs full of imagination and uniqueness of flowers, representations, stanzas, poems with living colors like green, blue and red.
Ardebil Carpets : These are among the most famous carpets in the world. They are taken their name from the city Ardabil which lies near the Caspian Sea in the northwest of Persia.
One of the diamonds in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection is an Ardabil rug. It is the only carpet among the few well-preserved old carpets where we can see on their weaving the date (946 Persian date) 1539 according to our calendar. The first Ardabil carpets with designs of flowers and different medallions are simple without symbolisms and we remember the old carpets of the city Tabriz a lot.
Size : 294x210 cm without the fringes (5cm of fringes on each side)
