Object description :

"Mahogany Commode, Transition Style Louis XV / Louis XVI - Early 20th Century"
Chest of drawers in solid mahogany and veneer, Transition Louis XV to Louis XVI style. Its top is a Pretty Brocatelle Marble, in the color Rose Yellow. It perfectly matches the Projection shape of this Chest of Drawers and is carved with a groove around its perimeter. This piece of furniture is built with two large drawers, fitted with stops that can be removed using two rods. Each of these drawers has a brass entry and a lock in working order, accompanied by its key. They are also provided with two Beaded Rings in Original Bronze. The fronts of these drawers are projecting in their center. They present entourages with Double Threads, forming frames with Greek angles, Marquetry found on the sides of the Cabinet. The front uprights with cut sides are embellished in the upper parts with Bronze Chutes cut into Flowers and Foliage. The bottom of this chest of drawers is decorated with a Bronze with a shell motif. The set rests on four feet furnished with Sabots of the same alloy. The interior of the drawers as well as the top and the back of the Cabinet are in Oak. This chest of drawers is distinguished by its concealed crosspiece, thus offering Perfect Continuity in the Marquetry of its facade. We will also appreciate the Diversity of Mahogany tones from which this Elegant Furniture benefits. ******** Period: Early 20th century Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
