Terracotta Statue Of Radha, 19th Century flag

Object description :

"Terracotta Statue Of Radha, 19th Century"
Terracotta statue of Radha, mistress of Krishna, 19th century, in her traditional position, one but on the hips, the other arm raised Radha, whose name means "prosperity, success", is a symbol of the soul of the bhakta (devotee) who seeks his God-lover in order to unite with him. It appears quite late in Krishnaism. Indeed, his cult developed during the Indian Middle Ages. Radha, unknown to ancient legends — which underlines the novelty of the cult — accompanies the transformation of Hinduism as it takes on a more mystical color and is close to popular cults. One of the features of this religion of bhakti is the passionate love which brings the faithful closer to the divinity and whose "erotic aspect is symbolic here" but underlined by her dress and the details of her body.
