Turkmen Yomoud Rug, 164 X 227 Cm, Wool On Wool, First Part Of The 20th Century

Rug from the Turkmen Yomoud tribe in wool on wool, decorated with a large double pattern called Hadchlou (cross) from the first part of the 20th century.
The pile of these rugs is short and made of a very fine mixed wool.
The main motif of the Hadchlou is composed of a large cross which divides the infield into almost four equal parts.
The small-scale motifs that decorate the rest of the field vary according to the tribes of these regions.
The most interesting being the one found on our model, specific to the Yomouds and reminiscent of a stylized butterfly, this repeated motif covers the entire field.
The colors used on Hatchlous are typical, all shades of red, midnight blue, black and sometimes white have some dullness to them.
Our model is in very good condition and may be from Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan, territories occupied by these tribes.
The visible round stain is from the camera lens and is by no means on the mat.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
