The bronze frame is marked with the initials MB for Blaise Millet, founder of the Maison Millet in 1857.
Specializing in Louis XV and Louis XVI style furniture, the Maison Millet quickly acquired a solid reputation, rewarded at the Universal Exhibitions in London and Paris. Maison Millet was one of François Linke's suppliers; we also find the name of Linke on certain inkstands like ours. Millet's art objects were also sold by the Escalier de Cristal, of which there may still be, on the back of our tray, the negative of the label.
