Three-quarter length portrait of Thomas Wootton's daughter, Baron Wotton seated in a cave wearing an elaborate gold satin dress and holding a palm leaf. Inscribed on the back. Stanhope was widely known at the time as one of the mistresses of the portrait painter Van Dyck, a friend and rival of fellow Dutch painter Lely. Presented in a gilded and wooden frame.
