"Pair Of Empire Candlesticks, Antwerp 1814-1822, Sterling Silver, Martinus L Vleeschouwers"
Lovely pair of Louis XVIll period candlesticks in solid silver. They are executed in a neoclassical style with a shape more typical for Holland and England than for our regions. They are quite large and in very good condition and still have their original sockets hallmarked by the same goldsmith as the torches: Martin I Vleeschouwers (1773-1822). The date of death of the goldsmith combined with the hallmarks of guarantee found on the feet of the candlesticks (in force from 1814 to 1831) allows us to date these pretty candlesticks between 1814 and 1822. They weigh 600 grams for the pair.
