Vincent de Paredes, born in 1845 in Saint-Carlos, is a renowned painter of genre paintings. The reproductions of his works were very successful in European publications. He began his training at the School of Fine Arts in his hometown and then went to Madrid to copy the masterpieces of the Prado Museum. After winning a bronze medal at the Valencia Fine Arts Exhibition in 1879, he moved to Rome and devoted himself to Orientalist painting, influenced by Mariano Fortuny, whose Orientalist themes were very popular at the time.
In 1884, he moved to Paris, where his style evolved into so-called "coat paintings", scenes of salons furnished in the Louis XV style, abandoning Orientalist themes. He also explored genre painting with scenes of daily life. Paredes is a master watercolorist and exhibits regularly in Paris. His works are published in magazines, such as "Le Monde Illustré".
Critics praise the complexity of his compositions and his creative freedom. Paredes is admired for his palette of pastel tones and his delicate brushstrokes in his Parisian urban scenes. His artistic talent was recognized, notably in a 1903 article in "La Ilustración Artística". Vicente García de Paredes marked his time as a talented painter, and left an artistic legacy appreciated by many art lovers, he died in 1903.
