"French School 1970s : "surrealist Tapestry IV With Scorpion""
French school 1970s: "Surrealist tapestry IV with scorpion", patchwork of textile and leather elements cut and assembled on a background of black woolen cloth (slightly attacked), mounted later on a frame 93 X 65 cm, illegible monogram and dated 1976. When many years ago I acquired the first of these tapestries, I kept it for a long time in my "murissoir" in the hope of deciphering the monogram. The ace ! As the years went by, I gave it up and put this “Surrealist Owl 1973” up for sale and it left immediately… What was my surprise, the other day, to come across two others! A Nude and an Escher's Cube that I bought immediately and, seeing me doing it, a colleague offered me a fourth, this scorpion with a human face, still in this strange, very original surrealist vein. As a result, I don't know much more, except that it is not a unicum, that they were created between 1973 and 1976, that they show great technical mastery in the chosen medium. and that damn monogram is still indecipherable!
