Magnificent and rare pair of 18° sterling silver and vermeil salt cellars, Louis XV period (circa 1760). Each consists of a saleron set in a grooved base: the latter extends into a decoration of scrolls with windings and rich foliage forming four widely flared feet. Two punches on the throat, unidentified, possibly Germany or Italy. Length - Lenght: 8.2 cm. / 3. 15 in. Width - Whidt: 6.5cm. / 2. 53 in. Solid silver weight: Sterling silver weight: 200 grams. (104 gr. & 96 gr.) Micro-scratches from normal use, no deformations. Excellent conditions for these pieces of exceptional quality. Probably Austrian or German work. Suggestions welcome.
