Henry Malfroy or Malfroy-Savigny was born on January 15, 1895 in Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône) and died in 1944. A painter of landscapes and seascapes in the Post-Impressionist vein, he apprenticed at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris with his father Charles Malfroy, with whom he is often confused. He exhibited regularly in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants until 1934. Painter of the coasts and ports of Bouches-du-Rhône and Var, he also worked in Paris and on the banks of the Seine.
