Chinese colossal armchair in carved wood. Dimensions of a throne. Excellent quality wood, very hard with very fine grain, very heavy (an armchair weighs 80kg) nice grain. Perfect cabinet work. Sculptures in relief and cut with a total mastery of the tool. The drawings are precise, elegant and show no fault of chisel or taste. In addition, all the subjects treated have ritual meanings, longevity, fortune, luck, marital happiness, etc. There are 4 armchairs and a large three-seater sofa which alone weighs around 200kg. This is an absolutely exceptional set that can be described as royal and of which there is probably no equivalent. Below are incised Chinese characters which should indicate the name of the creators, the places and dates and probably the name of the sponsor. Chinese work from the second half of the 20th century.
