Charles Walhain Portrait of a Young Boy with a Cat Oil/Canvas early 20th century Charles-Albert Walhain (1877 - 1936) Portrait of the young boy Jacques Louis Marie Armand Louvet and his cat, depicted outdoors. Son of Mrs Armande Fleuriot and Mr Marcel-Louis Louvet. Signed Ch. Walhain lower right. Dated 1911. Charles-Albert Walhain, born in 1877 in Paris and died in 1936 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, was a French painter and sculptor. He follows the courses of the painter Léon Glaize then he enters the Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Léon Bonnat. He exhibited at the Salon of the Society of French Artists from 1900 to 1936. At the turn of the century he became a prominent portraitist of the high society of the Belle Époque. In 1918 he exhibited in Paris at the Petit Palais canvases for the benefit of works of war. French school at the beginning of the 20th century. Oil on canvas, on frame with protective cardboard. In its period setting, richly carved with acanthus leaves, early 20th century.
