Object description :

"Paperolle Reliquary Table Baroque Altarpiece Virgin Saints Martyrs XVII"
Important reliquary painting in paperolles* with architectural decoration in the form of a Baroque altarpiece, decorated with columns, pilasters and a statuette of the Virgin and Child, dedicated to several Holy Martyrs: Benedictae, Benigni (x2), Prosperi, Juconde, Faust, Innocentini , Theodore, Celestin, Constance, Reparatae, Theopiste and Constence, in a wooden frame, from the 17th century. This reliquary is in good condition and is of exceptional quality due to its size and the quality of the decorations. The statuette of the Virgin is in polychrome wood or plaster. The fasteners have been changed and probably the glass. He no longer has his seals. A note: missing a column in the lower part, accident on the paper decoration in the center (see red arrows), accidents and wear of time on the reliquary, some small stains and yellowing on the bottom paper and on the borders, accidents and old wormholes on the frame, take a good look at the photos. *Paperolle: Artisanal technique that consists of rolling up narrow strips of paper to create various shapes and ornamental patterns. Paperolle is a very old technique that was used in the Middle Ages, in poor churches, to imitate gold or silver filigree decorations. The achievements were often reliquaries called quillwork reliquaries. Paperolle is a term derived from paper. It designates not only the technique, but also the realization in paper. The name rolled papers is sometimes used as a synonym. ATTENTION: FOR A DELIVERY QUOTE CONTACT US WITH CITY AND COUNTRY OF DESTINATION. BE CAREFUL: PLEASE CONTACT US FOR THE DELIVERY PRICE.
