The Count of Nieuwerkerke is a French sculptor and a senior official of the Second Empire
He was director of museums in 1849 and Superintendent of Fine Arts from 1863.
He was responsible for four museums (Louvre, Luxembourg, Versailles and St Germain-en-laye)
He exhibited at the Salon from 1842
