"Pair Of Large 18th Century Baroque Altar Columns"
Important pair of Altar columns, Italian work in the Baroque style from the late 17th-early 18th century, presenting a structure in richly carved gilded and polychrome wood depicting balusters with herringbone motifs surmounted by Corinthian capitals adorned with the heads of cherubs animated by trimmings, the bases are punctuated by a strong relief of foliage scrolls forming scrolled frames giving rise to smiling Putti heads. Dimensions: 1 m 58 high X 25 cm wide maxi / square bases: 23.5 X 23.5 cm. Good general condition, note polychromy and gilding resumptions towards the end of the 19th century, note some usual wear and cracks.
