"Witch Mirror In Old Golden Wood - Late Nineteenth"
Witch Mirror composed by definition of a Round and Convex Mirror with a distorting effect. The latter is part of a Golden Frame with Aged Patina, Molded on its edges. Protruding half balls arranged at regular intervals garnish the hollowed out part. This entourage is topped by a Generous Pediment, dominated by an Eagle with outstretched wings. The raptor is camped on a Vase with a flared body, placed in the middle of Leafy Scrolls. The lower part of this mirror is also sculpted with patterns with rounded lines. It will be noted that the Gilding reveals Discreet and Subtle shades of Red, adding to the Personality of this Ornamental Object. In addition, its Domed Glass allows a diffusion of Light different from other more common models, and a greater angle of view. This is why - historical parenthesis - this Trendy accessory was formerly called 'Third Eye', since it allowed bankers and merchants to monitor all of their offices or shops. Magical virtues were also attributed to Witch Mirrors, such as the power to observe servants in the absence of their masters, or to protect their owners. You will have understood it, we will offer ourselves through this Mirror much more than a simple element of Decoration... ******** Period: Late 19th century Perfect condition.
