"Makuzu Kozan - 19th C Japanese Satsuma Vase"
Satsuma earthenware vase with relief decoration of a marine anchor.
Meiji period (1868 - 1912) mark on the reverse in double gourd of Makuzu Kozan. Production around 1870 - 1880.
Height: 29 cm
Very good general condition with some wear (see photos)

Makuzu Kozan (1842 - 1916) was one of the greatest ceramist during the 19th century named artist of the imperial house in Japan. His greatest productions are between 1880 until the beginning of the 20th century and were massively presented at major international exhibitions.
