Pair of large color lithographs on the Universal Exhibition of Crystal Palace in 1851. The 1st represents the opening ceremony of May 1, 1851 of the great exhibition of Crystal Palace by Queen Victoria. This is a view from the west entrance of the transept and canopy where the Queen and the Royal Family sit. You can also see Osler's monumental crystal fountain. The second represents the royal party in the foreign nave of the Crystal Palace after the opening of the great exhibition. These 2 lithographs are part of a set of 4 plates of interior views of the Crystal Palace published by Ernest Gambart in 1854 (E.Gambart e Cie 9 rue d'Orléans au marsh -Paris) after watercolors by Joseph Nash (famous English watercolourist and lithographer specializing in the representation of historic buildings 1809-1878) The frame is in blackened wood from the 19th century.
