"Bronze "
Bronze with brown patina with discreet golden reflections signed "Coustou" on the terrace, taking as a theme one of Marly's steeds. The original work is a Carrara marble statue dating from the 18th century, which decorated the drinking troughs of the Château de Marly, and which can now be admired in the Louvre Museum. The scene features a rearing stallion, restrained with difficulty by a groom. The artist was able to transcribe with precision the state of nervousness of the animal, and the wild strength of its posture. Note the finesse of the physiognomic details of the equine and the man sculpted here: the mane in the wind, the bandaged muscles, the fight they both seem to be leading. An ode to the wild beauty of the horse, this bronze sculpture will delight animal lovers. You will undoubtedly be charmed by the vitality and realism that emanates from it. ****** Period: 19th century Excellent condition.
