Rémois Jean BERQUE was a pupil of the “Nabis“ Félix VALLOTTON, Paul SERUSIER and Maurice DENIS at the Académie RANSON. He discovers the landscapes of Morocco, Spain and Italy. In the south of France he met many artists including DUNOYER de SEGONZAC and Aristide MAILLOL. In his works he asserted a taste for still lifes, landscapes and nudes in a sober and stylized drawing which earned him the praise of critics of the interwar period.
