"Gio Ponti (1891-1979) Ceramic Table"
Elegant coffee table circa 1970 with ceramic top by Gio Ponti (1891-1979) for Bardelli (model listed and titled La Maison Des Ephèbes / La casa degli Efebi) resting on a neoclassical base in silver metal, signed several times under the tray, very good general condition, dimensions: 45.5 cm high X 55 cm wide X 55 cm deep. GIO PONTI was born in Milan on November 18, 1891. He graduated in architecture from the Higher Polytechnic Institute of his city in 1921. Over the course of six decades - from the 1920s to the 1970s - he worked not only in architecture, but also in the fields of painting, design, teaching, journalism. Designing and promoting quality through exhibitions and reviews were unequivocal objectives for Ponti and for his sense of the future. His first “neo-classical” architectures, from the house in via Randaccio in Milan, to the Bouilhel house in Garches, Paris, date back to the 1920s. From 1923 to 1930, he was the artistic director of Richard Ginori, whose entire production he renewed. Ceramics has always been Ponti's favorite exercise
