Old Afshar Carpet, 134 X 176, Hand Knotted Wool In Persia In The XIXth Century, Very Beautiful Artifact

Very nice artifact from the Afshari nomadic culture of the 19th century in used condition, colletion, for 134 cm x 176 cm.
Superb decor of botehs in stylized flowers for this Afshar rug with an almost black midnight blue background.
360,000 knots per m2 - Turkish knot 60 knots for 10 cm in length and 60 knots for 10 cm in width.
Wool weft - wool velvet for 2 mm thickness
Afshar carpet, (Avshar) also called, Sirdjan originating from Persia (Iran), hand-knotted in very good quality wool.
It measures 143 cm wide by 178 cm long, decorated with botehs in a horizontal line 5 lines of 6 and 4 lines of 7.
Shades of cream, camel, chestnut, orange and wonderful blues placed on a midnight blue field .
The color treatment is based on plants and minerals.
The ornamentation of this piece of great finesse is composed of a multitude of botehs 58 in total, surrounded by a delicate border of stylized pomegranates, and sinuous lines symbolizing eternity and continuity.
the carpet is a very beautiful artefact from this period, in good condition given its age and has no restoration, reinforcement strips are sewn to the reverse in the lengths and widths.
The colors are bright and give it a very nice cachet. A beautiful example of 19th century nomadism, in its own juice that will please the connoisseur.
In the southeast of Iran, around the city of Kerman, live the semi-nomads of the Afshar tribe, the Afsharis.
For a long time, these nomads lived in the north-west of Iran, but part of the population moved to the south-east where the manufacture of carpets represented an important economic sector and this since the middle of the 19th century.
These carpets have shades of pink, red, ocher, many blues, purple and earth colors and the majority of them bear geometric patterns.
The most common design used is a large central field with one or more square medallions.
Some decorations represent the skin of an animal stretched before being tanned.
What is typical of Afshar rugs is that they are often relatively wide compared to their length. Afshar rugs are also marketed under the name Sirdjan rugs.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
Traces of very light wear, which gives this type of ethnic rug its authentic character.
