Object description :

"Very Beautiful Portrait Of Marie Mancini (1639-1715) Ferdinand Jacob Voet (follower Of) Louis XIV"
This superb portrait of Marie Mancini from the 17th century is similar to the works of the famous court painter Jacob Ferdinand Voet (1639-1689).

The lovely face of Marie Mancini is very delicately treated.

The painting is in good condition, it has been repaired. Some old restorations are present.

Dimensions: 73 x 60 cm

Mazarin’s niece who brought him from Rome to the court of France, Marie Mancini is renowned for having been the first true love of the young Louis XIV.
The King’s mother, Queen Anne of Austria, and Cardinal Mazarin opposed a possible union of the two young men, which would have represented an unacceptable misalignment, especially since the cardinal was in negotiations to negotiate a royal marriage with the infanta Marie-Thérèse of Austria.
Cardinal Mazarin, a statesman, decided to send his niece away and send her to Brouage on the Basque coast.
It was in pain that the King and Marie Mancini separated on June 22, 1659.
Louis XIV accompanies his beloved to his carriage, without hiding his tears.
The young Italian woman said to the King this sentence that inspired Corneille et Racine:

“You cry, Sire, you are the Master and I am leaving”
