"Cardeilhac Lovely Suite Of 11 Dessert Knives In Vermeil And Mother-of-pearl Period 1819-1838"
By the very great goldsmith that was the Maison Cardeilhac founded in 1804, a delightful suite of 11 fruit, dessert, cheese or dessert knives, vermeil blades and ferrules and mother-of-pearl handles, from the 1st half of the 19th century. The ferrules, trimmed with pearls at the base, are decorated with fine grooves, gadroons and heart-shaped spokes. The shiny treated gold on the reliefs, amati in the hollows perfectly highlights the decoration of each ferrule. A mother-of-pearl with multiple iridescent reflections that change white, grey, green, pink... depending on the light. Restoration period - Charles X. Each blade bears the "old man" punches with the head turned to the right, the number 1 on the right (1st Paris title) and a circular head of Cérès turned to the left (big Paris guarantee punch): 1819- 1838 as well as the hallmark of the master silversmith "Cardeilhac". "Cardeilhac" in full, with a crowned cross of the Legion of Honor and a crescent below. Length: 19.8 cm each knife Total weight of the set: 464 g Good condition. The knives are very solid. Micro-scratches and slight marks of use, stains. Gluing and small lack of material at the end of a handle, tiny hairs on another handle which do not affect the solidity of the knife (see photos).
