Oval medallion shape, it is surrounded by a plant motif forming a frame, surmounted by two cherubs holding a circle allowing it to be hung.
In the center a classic representation of the royal family in profile, Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette, Madame Royale and the future dolphin Louis XVII, surmounted by a laurel wreath.
Quite unusually, a dagger appears below the profiles.
This is a reference to the affair of the "Knights of the Dagger", a group of royalists who tried to exfiltrate Louis XVI and his family from Paris and France in 1791.
This attempt failed, the King having asked his supporters to lay down their arms, on the exhortations of General de Lafayette.
