"Allegory Of Music, Workshop Of Carl Van Loo (1705-1765)"
The original of our painting appeared in the Château de Bellevue belonging to Madame de Pompadour along with three other compositions: Allegory of sculpture, Allegory of painting and architecture. Given the success of these works featuring children, Van Loo's studio had to deal with a multitude of orders on the same subject. The castle of Bellevue having been destroyed during the Revolution, it is difficult today to know where the originals are. Possibly at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. Our painting is presented in a painted and gilded wooden frame. certainly a door top element (124 x 102) Dimensions at sight 99 x 77cm
