"E.puiforcat - Letter Opener / Letter Opener Sterling Silver Vermeil Pommel Handle"
Letter opener in solid silver and vermeil by the master silversmith Emile Puiforcat, active from 1857 at 18, rue Chapon in Paris. The pommel shape of this very beautiful model, enriched with a stylized mavelot, offers an ideal grip. It is underlined with double fillets and dated: 2 Dec. 1901-1951. Micro-marks of use and slight lack of vermeil at the point of contact (see photos). Goldsmith's hallmark (EP, an office penknife) at the height of the ferrule and PUIFORCAT stamp on the blade.
