Embossed leather panel
Son of the painter Henri Dillens, he followed courses at the Academy of Brussels and modeling with Eugene Simonis. He collaborates as a worker on various projects, including the Brussels Stock Exchange, where he meets Carrier-Belleuse and Rodin.
He participated in the exhibitions of the Essor group, which included Fernand Khnopff, Léon Frédéric and James Ensor.
In 1877, he won the Prix de Rome and traveled in France and Italy. Julien Dillens also created memorials and funerary monuments.
He also exhibited in Berlin, Amsterdam and Edinburgh.
He became a professor at the School of Art in Ixelles and from 1899 at the Brussels Academy.
