"Genre Painting, Nineteenth, The Castle Of Cards"
French school, painting in the spirit of the Van Loo school. Typical and touching genre scene. We see a young girl, sister or nanny, building a house of cards. On his right two little girls are more or less interested in the show. On the ground are scattered playing cards, a dog and a doll with a painted porcelain face. The spirit of the old regime that emanates from the canvas, recognizable by the clothing of the characters as well as the mode of representation of the puppy, can be understood as a tribute to the Van Loos despite a much later production.
