Large 16th Century Elmdish, Garden Of Eden, Nuremberg,

Beautiful large thick brass dish, repoussé work, hemmed edge, wing hammered of punches, on centre: Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, among flowers of the earthly Paradise, with the Tree and Serpent , this still Gothic decoration is surrounded by a beautiful frieze of inscriptions, probably a prayer in German, above Adam, one scroll, with perhaps workshop' mark. The decorations are still fairly legible despite pronounced wear.
Dimensions: 40cm in diameter, weight: approximately 1350gr.
Condition: good in appearance, but I note: (red arrows front and back) 2 small wear holes, a cut on edge and a knock. Take a good look at our photos.....
