Germany: Hunting Sword Knife - "vivat Pandur" - XVIII°

GERMANY hunting sword-knife, engraving on the blade: "VIVAT PANDUR", 18th century, 1750-1780. Slightly curved blade with flat back with engraved decoration of military trophies and a man on a pedestal surmounted by the motto: "VIVAT PANDUR" (The engraving of the Pandour representing the warriors of Baron de Trenck). Blade with 1 cutting edge of 40.5 cm and counter edge at a point of 12 cm with trace of oxidation. Bronze pommel in the shape of a hoof with decoration. Guard with keyboard in the shape of an eagle with 2 quillons in "S" and bronze handle with chiseled decoration of rocaille motif. The part between the pommel and the handle is in deer antler with remaining green tint. This type of "Hirschfanger" is an example of Germanic hunting weapons of the 18th century.
