# Damascene work is a delicate technique of inlaying small threads of gold or silver into a metal object.
This technique spread from Damascus to Toledo and India.
Some pieces are made of iron, such, for example, the gold damask helmet of Sultan Barsbay.
On copper or bronze objects, characters or decorative motifs are damascened in silver.
Pure copper is the origin of the alloys bronze and brass.
It has been repoussé shaped at all times, but it has often been gilded, enamelled, covered or inlaid with other materials like our model.
It has been used extensively in the manufacture of everyday objects.
Boilermaking brings together this type of production and certain countries, such as those of the Muslim East, have become masters in this field.
