"Adjustable Piano Stool, In Blackened Patinated Wood - Nineteenth"
Piano stool dating from the 19th century, in wood with a black patina. The subtly bowl-shaped seat has light and fine pyrography representing large leaves. A young servant, seated cross-legged, forms the body of this stool, into which a threaded rod is inserted to adjust the seat height. His right hand, resting on the base, maintaining and balancing. The boy, covered with a cape with fringes on his head and back, supports the top of the seat on his left shoulder. The face of the servant is oriented upwards thus revealing short and curly hair. The whole rests on a wide and thick plant base. This piano stool, adjustable in height and showing great originality, is somewhat reminiscent of chimeras in architecture, describing fantastic, mythical or grotesque figures used for decorative purposes on monuments. ******** Period: 19th century.
