Emmanul Ariès View Of Garden And Fountain Watercolor Signed lower left Gilt wood frame, watercolor under glass Work late 19th century early 20th century Very good quality of execution, scene representing a park in Bordeaux Framing by A. GREZY in Bordeaux Shipping offered in Metropolitan France 37 x 28 cm without frame 45 x 35 cm frame included Son of Colonel Emmanuel Ariès (1847-1923) and first cousin of the father of Philippe Ariès, he became a student, in architecture, of the preparatory workshop of Jules Godefroy and Eugène Freynet, then that of Marcel Lambert3. In 1896, he was admitted to the National School of Fine Arts. He exhibited at the Salon des artistes français in Paris in 1901 where he obtained an honorable mention in 1904 Monarchist, he chaired the Fédération d'Action française de la Gironde5, became the animator of Action française in the South-West and directed there the royalist newspaper La Nouvelle Guyenne. He is also an opponent of the Sillon, the movement founded by Marc Sangnier. He collaborates in particular with the Chronicle of the arts and curiosity, supplement to the Gazette of the fine arts, and with the Critical review of the ideas and the books. In 1934, he became president of the Atelier, a society of artists residing in Bordeaux created in 1905.
