"Centerpiece In Sterling Silver, Wolfers, Brussels 1880-1910"
Lovely Louis XVI style centerpiece in solid silver with its hammered brass interior. To decorate this magnificent centerpiece, Philippe Wolfers drew on the register of neoclassical decorations. Garlands of laurels, grooves, additions, scrolls and foliage are all on display. The Belgian national art and history museums recently dedicated an entire room to the production of this prestigious line of goldsmiths, jewelers and of artists. For the occasion, the original interior of the Wolfers boutique designed by Victor Horta has been reassembled in a room in the museum. There are sculptures, sumptuous Art Nouveau jewelry and silverware of all styles produced by this famous luxury house. The silver frame of the planter without its interior weighs 900 grams.
