"Pair Of Sauce Tureens ,sterling Silver, London 1952, King's Light Dragoons Regiment"
Lovely pair of covered sauce tureens in sterling silver in the style of the George III period but dating from the year 1952. They are engraved with the crest of a regiment of English hussars, the King's Light Dragoons founded in 1759 to participate in the battles of the Seven Years' War. The regiment's motto "Merebimur", We will be worthy of honours, is on the lid, surrounded by the regiment's two battles of honor: Emsdorf, 16 July 1760 and Villiers en Cauchies, 24 April 1794. Stylistically, both terrines are historical replicas of terrines from circa 1820-1830. They were probably commissioned around 1950 to match the regiment's existing antique silverwork which dated to the early nineteenth century. The pair weighs 2120 grams.
