Hyppolite Madelaine (1871 - 1966) Painter of the school of Rouen, born in the Eure in Saint - Ouen de Thouberville. His first distant trip will be Argentina where he will spend a year. He participated in 1902 with Paul Mascart and a few others in the founding of the Society of Rouen Artists. He chooses his way and devotes himself mainly to watercolor and pastel. His favorite themes are the old quarters of Rouen, but also Burgundy (Dijon, Plombieres). In 1936, the call of the distant embarked this time for Polynesia where he stayed six months, in Tahiti and in the surrounding islands. The work presented here is a watercolor from his Tahitian period.
