Object description :

"Curiosity: Bottle With Ludions In Glass From The XIX Eme Century"
A rare object on the antiques market and a touching testimony of pilgrims going to Notre Dame de Liesse in the Aisne in the 19th century.
this bottle is called the passion bottle, it is in blown glass resting on a large pedestal.
the top ends in a point here it is sealed with wax.
It contains many Ludions:
spun glass subjects representing objects of Christ's passion for the most part, suspended from blown glass floats.
some are at the top, some are halfway up, a few are broken and sit at the bottom of the bottle.
But most are in good condition and it is rare to come across a bottle of passion containing so many ludions. it would seem that these bottles, testimony to the faith of Christians during this famous pilgrimage at the time, were filled with holy water from a miraculous fountain, but this remains to be verified.
Here the water is slightly cloudy and the glass slightly clouded, because over time a deposit has formed.
but the object itself remains surprising, intriguing and of an old-fashioned beauty.
a very beautiful collector's bottle, a beautiful object of curiosity, all the more interesting that despite its fragility it reached us in good condition.

height: 36 cm
