"Flying Drum Table, Mahogany, One Door, Circa 1780."
Flying drum table with three legs from the Louis XVI period around 1780, in mahogany and mahogany veneer on all sides, also called “à en cas”; small piece of furniture offering all the useful ease allowing it to be moved from one place to another such as in the living room or any other living room. Pretty piece of furniture, with a top surrounded by a beautiful perforated brass mold, opens to a rounded door and, for the service, an interior covered with zing; the door is fitted with its brass olive button closure. The fluted legs at their top descend tapered, projections fixing them around a low mahogany top rimmed with brass; the three legs are each terminated by a ball-ended brass ring. This low shelf between the legs is fitted as standard (below) with a mass of wood contributing to the good seating of the piece of furniture.
The bottom mahogany tray has an old trace of a tight crack that does not affect its behavior in any way.
The base is in very good condition.
The mold, strapping and olive button are original on this 18th century piece of furniture.
