On the back the handwritten mention "Mlle Augustine Bibiane Senaisy painted in 1800 by Mlle Duvivier" Pastel under glass, in its original frame in gilded wood (some gaps). Of a high quality of execution, this very expressive portrait is charged with emotion and sensitivity, the hairstyle and the clothing are very representative of a fashion covering the very short period of the Consulate (1799-1804). Dimensions: Frame: 62 cm x 51 cm At sight: 53 cm x 43 cm Biography: Aimée Duvivier, born in Santo Domingo around 1766 and died in Paris around 1852. Pupil of Jean Baptiste GREUZE, she exhibited her works several times in various salons and among others, in 1791, 1806, 1822 and 1824 at the Salon du Louvre. During an exhibition in 1843, the review Echo of Literature and Fine Arts in France and Abroad spoke of it in these terms: "But what gave me the most pleasure, in this genre so little practiced today, and which however seems to want to come out of its numbness, it is the head of a color and a delicious execution that Miss Aimée Duvivier, the only one who remains to us of the students of the beautiful school of Greuze.
