Rare altar statue from the Ogboni secret society of the Yorubas, Nigeria. These figures were planted in the ground during Ogboni ceremonies, note the very beautiful and fine quality of execution of the character, he wears a Portuguese style hat (former colonists). The pike is corroded at the base, there may be a few rings missing from the hat. Height 52cm.

Former collection of the famous painter of the Paris school, Charles Lapicque who died in 1988, he generally bought his objects in Parisian galleries.
