A tapestry panel with frolicking fauns and putti.
Brussels, early 18th century.
Measures 260 x 185cm.
The child standing in the tree is reenacting the mischiefs of the famous Manneken-pis fountain in Brussels, although this has been amusingly ‘censored’ in the 19th century.
This tapestry panel with exceptionally well-preserved colours presents a scene on the pleasures of drunkenness.
The tapestry is in good condition with old restorations and has recently been professionally cleaned and conserved.
