Simon Vouet (Paris, January 9, 1590 - Paris, June 30, 1649) was a French painter and draftsman. Settled in Italy for almost twenty years, he was one of the leading exponents of Caravaggism before returning to France in 1627, where he evolved his own style and contributed to the introduction of the Italian Baroque in France.
