Jasper van der Lanen (1585-1634), attributed to, Christ and the Pilgrims of Emmaus, oil on copper, Antwerp around 1615. Jasper van der Lanen, or van der Laanen, born in Antwerp in 1585 and died in Antwerp in 1634, is a Flemish painter of the Baroque age. Biography He was a pupil of Nicolaas Geerts in 1607 and became a member of the guild of Saint-Luc in Antwerp in 1615. He married Elisabeth Roumbouts in 1624 at the Saint-Joris church and the painter Abraham Govaerts was his best man. He works in the studio of the latter and will take it over after the death of Govaerts.
