"Bronze Sculpture Signed Leveque Artistic Nude From The 19 Th Century "maternity""
Sculpture “Motherhood” – Artistic Nude Bronze

This splendid bronze sculpture embodies a sublimated young mother, represented with a drapery delicately placed around her leg, held at the waist by a knotted tie. The figure reveals her beauty while playing with her child in her arms, a pure symbol of motherhood.

The work has a deep brown patina which highlights the finesse of the foundry and the delicate details of the bronze, testifying to a remarkable quality of execution (a few traces of dust visible in the photos).

Signature: “LEVÊQUE” engraved on the terrace.

The sculpture rests on a magnificent turned walnut wood base, adding to the nobility of the piece.

Dimensions:
- Total height (base included): 38.5 cm
- Bronze height: 32.5 cm
- Base diameter: 18.5 cm
- Bronze diameter: 10 cm
- Weight: 3.8 kg

The artist: Edmond Louis Auguste Lévêque (1814-1875), born in Abbeville, sculptor and painter, student of the Beaux-Arts in Paris under Guersant, David d'Angers and Rude. He exhibited regularly from 1833 to 1874 and participated in the Salons in the painting sections between 1848 and 1872.

This work delicately illustrates the symbolic beauty of the female body, approaching nudity from a philosophical and aesthetic angle, evoking the ideal of human perfection through the tradition of the artistic nude, where the form is sublimated. Inspired by Greek thought, this approach to nudity pays homage to the unity between mind and body, beauty and goodness.

This precious bronze will please art collectors and will embellish a refined interior with a touch of timeless idealism.
