Nuremberg 15th century embossed brass basin chiseled with a radiating umbilicus pattern, a
Rare and thick / heavy brass embossed and chiseled work collection dish with in its center a radiating decoration with umbilicus, framing a central flower with 10 petals, pierced in its center and covered in its middle with a 16th century silver coin. A circle gothis written frame the bottom basin, used so difficult to read.
The silver coin looks like to be from the same period, or even earlier (my knowledge of numismathetics is very poor, and the money is used.
Awaiting your kind help and details that you could bring me on this point!)
I found some similar transformation on other arms dishes.
Workshops of Nüremberg (Germany) from middle of the 15th century.
Used condition: A central turning hole has curiously been covered with a silver coin from the same period (to be identified) and fixed with a copper solder visible from the back.
This restoration is certainly old and even probably original.
This dish is one of the oldest examples (second half of the 15th century) that can be found in this collection theme. Please check mly other annouvements for 2 similar basins and 3 other dishes from the same collection
