The richly and finely inlaid front and sides of tortoiseshell, brass, mother-of-pearl, silver-plated metal, and copper in the Far Eastern style give the piece a sophisticated presence.
The door features a scene of Saint Michael slaying a demon, opening onto a sober black lacquer interior with a mirrored background. Each drawer features a different hunting scene with a bow and lance, on horseback and on elephant back, lions, deer, birds, and lush vegetation. The uprights and crosspieces are adorned with trophies of arms and interlacing plants.
A central door with a key, 11 drawers with ivory handles, and three secret compartments, one of which is locked by a metal pin behind the capital, and two hidden by the side columns topped with a gilded wood anthropomorphic head with a system opening. We have not yet found a way to open the latter two.
Restored 19th-century furniture, 17th-century elements, later console, and some more recent restorations.
